Who does what?

Getting everyone to participate in Building Blocks is critical to success

Get everyone on board to promote and be a part of the activities you will do for Building Blocks. Community involvement will ensure a whole-service approach to improving and sustaining health and wellbeing. Regularly consulting with staff, whānau/families and tamariki, rather than just telling them what you are doing will help them to engage in a more meaningful way. Tamariki, whānau/families and staff should be actively engaged to make it sustainable.

Ways to get the community involved

Local health professionals, services, local iwi leaders, kaumatua, and the wider community can enhance health promotion capacity, and support tamariki and their whānau/families’ health and wellbeing needs. Invite them to support too.

How to get the community involved

The Building Blocks Leader

The Building Blocks Leader is the key contact within your early learning service and will be responsible for your leadership and facilitation through He Whiria. Ideally, the service manager, senior teacher or an enthusiastic and influential member of staff should be the Building Blocks Leader. As the leader, you are the key liaison between staff and your Building Blocks Advisor. It is best practice to involve other staff as much as possible. This way the Building Blocks Leader can delegate tasks to others and it is more sustainable in terms of staff changes.

The Building Blocks Advisors

Our ultimate focus is to ensure you have the support you require to improve health and wellbeing priorities in your early learning service. Our advisors can support and help you on your way. Advisor support is currently only available in the Bay of Plenty and Lakes region.
